Mabuhay!

You’ve seen me post about Perla and now it’s time for their sister restaurant!

Sarvida is a Filipino inspired restaurant located in Fishtown. Like Perla, it is a little on the expensive side. The place itself is spacious and has a great ambiance. Their menu is broken up in as Palutan (snacks), Salo Salo (shareable small plates), and La Mesa (large entrees serve with a side of white rice). They are BYOB so make sure to bring some drinks to pair your Filipino food with!

For Palutan, we ordered Lumpiang Shanghai, Chicharron and BBQ Stick. The Lumpia was served with soy sauce and it was so crispy and very delicious. The Chicharron had some vinegar and it was a nice contrast to the salty taste of the Chicharron itself. The BBQ Stick was so soft and tender. It was amazing but it was not the traditional taste of Inihaw (Filipino BBQ).

Lumpiang Shanghai - Fried ground pork spring rolls with soy vinegar sauce

Chicharron - Fried pork rinds

BBQ Stick - Grilled pork shoulder with BBQ sauce

For Salo Salo, we all got the Pancit. They made Pancit look so good… HOW… But they did it. It tasted like how my mom makes her Pancit but Sarvida uses thicker egg noodles rather than thin rice noodles.

Pancit - Egg noodles, Taiwanese sausage with various vegetables

For La Mesa, we got Pork Belly and Adobo. The Pork Belly, or Lechon Kawali, is served with greens and Mang Tomas sauce (all-purpose sauce made from bread crumbs, sugar, flour, onions and garlic). The Lechon was so good and the skin,  CRISPY! I loved it! The Adobo was also delicious and tasted very Filipino but it was a bit on the sour side rather than the salty taste I’m used to.

Pork Belly - Fried pork belly with mustard greens and mang tomas

Adobo - Chicken thigh with onions (sauce made with soy sauce and vinegar)

For dessert, we ordered the Taho and Halo Halo. The Taho was alright in my opinion.

Sarvida made their Taho with soy milk panna cotta instead of soft tofu like it is usually made and I was a little disappointed with it because it wasn’t soft or melt in your mouth. There syrup also contained a slightly bitter taste that I didn’t personally enjoy but my friend liked it. The Halo Halo was amazing! At the bottom was Leche Flan (caramel custard) and I was so happy to discover it had jackfruit since it’s my favorite topping! The ube on top was very delicious but not too sweet so it went perfectly with the overall taste of the Halo Halo.

Taho - Soy panna cotta and arnibal topped with strawberries

Halo Halo - leche flan with shaved ice and various fruits topped with ube and evaporated milk

Like Perla, Sarvida is not your traditional Filipino restaurant. They put a modern twist to their dishes, giving it a more Western taste and making it look more aesthetically pleasing.

I would definitely recommend trying it out! And if you go soon, you can catch them for Filipino Restaurant Week. It’s going on until May 26th!

Hangaan sa muli,

Nicah
