Mabuhay!

My name is Nicah Paula Aguila and I am a senior college student studying Communication with a concentration in Corporate & Public Relations. Here's a little bit of background on me!

I was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Amadeo, Cavite at the age of five. There, I lived with my grandparents until my family came to Long Beach, California when I was 10 years old. I spent the next 8 years living in California and when it was time for college I moved to Philadelphia to attend Drexel University.

About PhillyPino

PhillyPino serves as a place where all things Filipino in Philadelphia can be found. Be it food, music, organizations, history, etc., you can find it all here! Though it's presence is not as obvious as others, Filipino culture is definitely present in Philadelphia.

When I first moved to Philly about five years ago, I was struck with a heavy case of homesickness or more specifically "culture-sickness." I have always been surrounded by Filipino culture growing up so coming to Philly I felt like my culture was suddenly absent in my life. But that was not the case. I created PhillyPino so that no other Filipino will feel culture-sick and take pride in knowing that our culture, Filipino culture, is present and is constantly growing in Philadelphia.
